News reaches me that "Odious" Adam Raoof, who appears on course to emerge as the real power on the Egregious Chess Federation's Management Board, after tomorrow's AGM, has established a website with the ambitious title ChessEngland. Looking at the extremely limited content, ChessGoldersGreen might appear to be more appropriate, but one cannot help wondering what could be behind so hubristic a choice of domain name.
Could it be that the Odious One is engaging in a bit of "succession planning", laying the ground for life after the collapse of the Egregious Fed? After all, if our shambolic excuse for a national governing body were on the brink of collapse, few would be better placed to know this than Odious Adam, bosom pal of the Dear Departed Leader and serious ECF insider. The members, on the other hand, would be the last to know, especially given the ECF's continued failure to produce reliable accounts for the scrutiny of its AGM.
Of course, it could just be that Odious Adam is a jumped-up nobody, with ideas above his station, and that the choice of domain name reflects that. But one wonders. In the murky world of the Egregious mob, anything is possible. Today Golders Green, tomorrow the world, as they say up North London.
Another space to be watched, methinks...
