Rumours reach me that the Egregious Chess Forum, and its chief censor, Carl "Old Mother" Hibbard, may be about to have an unpleasant encounter with M'Learned Friends. A Grandmaster of my acquaintance has apparently taken offence at statements on the Forum, which he regards as defamatory, and is gathering material for his response. Wouldn't it be terrible if a few of the termites found themselves facing ruinous legal action?
Of course, any chessplayer knows that counterattack is always the best form of defence. Here is a fine example of the genre, by one of Britain's first Grandmasters:
